The HI-TONE Amplification Custom 30 JP™ Amplifier Kit

Let's face it - not every venue can accommodate a 100 watt or even a 50 watt guitar amp. And, even in rooms that can, today's high quality Sound Reinforcement Systems render super powerful amplifiers (and extremely high stage volumes) unnecessary.

So, why isn't everyone playing through little 5 watt "bedroom" amps? Because they lack the clarity, dynamic range and punch a high headroom amp can offer.

What's a working guitarist to do to keep his/her Front-of-House Engineer happy while remaining true to their quest for TONE? The aficionados of HI-TONE Amplification have the answer:

Introducing the HI-TONE Amplification Custom 30 JP™ Amplifier Kit

Starting with what's known about the elusive "JP" Hylight Electronics HIWATT amp of the early 70's, HIWATT guru Mark Huss set about designing a circuit that would provide the flexibility of the "JP" boost/blend feature and a lower power output section that retained the punch and articulation of its 100 watt predecessor. After much experimentation and evaluation, the HI-TONE Amplification Custom 30 JP™ Amplifier Kit was born.

The HI-TONE Amplification Custom 30 JP™ : An amplifier that's easy to control - reaching its sweet spot before peeling the paint off the walls, yet powerful enough to drive any 1x12, 2x12 or 4x12 speaker cabinet.

The HI-TONE Amplification Custom 30 JP™ Amplifier Kit is designed to utilize 4 x 6V6 Power Tubes and has a "Half Power" switch to select (nominal) 30 watt or 15 watt operation.

While most "boutique" 30 watt amplifiers use EL84 power tubes, we at HI-TONE found those tubes to saturate too quickly, losing dynamics and articulation. They also lack the punch delivered by 6V6 tubes.

But, the "mad scientists" at HI-TONE didn't stop there. The Custom 30 JP™ , with proper (manual) bias adjustment, can also operate the following output tube configurations:

2 x 6L6
2 x EL34
2 x KT66
2 x KT77

Each combination yields its own unique character - making the HI-TONE Amplification Custom 30 JP™ perhaps the most flexible and practical amplifier available to working musicians.

The HI-TONE Amplification Custom 30 JP™ is available in kit form, with or without cabinet, beginning 05 January, 2011.
